While we make every effort to arrive on time there are times when traffic and weather may interrupt our service and the bus may be late. If you need to check on times please call the office at 530-842-8220.

Attention Passengers To/From Happy Camp:

The bus from Happy Camp to Yreka service is now back running on Tuesdays and Friday effective September 19, 2017.

The service may be discontinued at any time.  Please contact the S.T.A.G.E. office on Monday to confirm that the bus will run each week.  You may also follow us on Facebook to stay current on route changes.

Better known as STAGE; Siskiyou County's source for public transportation.

Riding the bus is easy. Like the first time for anything, it is not usual to be a little unsure. Please don't be nervous.  We're glad you're riding with us and are happy to help.

At anytime during your ride if you need assistance or feel uncomfortable, threatened, harassed, ill or lost, please notify your driver.

All of STAGE buses are ADA compliant.

STAGE Office

The STAGE office is located at 190 Greenhorn Road, Yreka. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm, except County holidays.  In addition, the buses do not run on weekends.

Your Guide to Riding the STAGE

Be at least 5 minutes early to your bus stop.  Wait at the appropriate bus stop.  Before boarding the bus, be sure it is the correct one, check the signage on the bus and if you are still unsure check with the bus driver.

Please have the correct fare ready as you board the bus.  Drivers are unable to take checks or pennies and are unable to make change on the buses. However, a change card can be issued, which may be used for future transit rides.

Wait until the bus is at a complete stop before loading and unloading.  Quickly take a seat once you are on the bus and stay seated while the bus is in motion.

As you get off the bus, be sure to check your seat for any belongings you may have dropped.

Front seats should be saved for the elderly or disabled.  If you choose to sit near the front of the bus and an elderly or disabled person needs the seat, you may be asked to move.

Bike racks are available during Daylight Savings Time.

A Few Rules for Riding the Bus

  • Shirt, shoes, and appropriate clothing are required to be worn at all times.
  • No smoking, in buses or within 20 ft of any bus stop or the doorway.
  • No eating or drinking.
  • No alcohol, drugs or illegal substances or illegal activities.  Intoxicated passengers may not be allowed to ride the bus.
  • Transportation of a pet is not allowed.
  • No disorderly or violent behaviors.
  • No vandalism.
  • No loud noises or conversations.
  • No weapons or hazardous materials.
  • No spitting, urinating, defecating or exposing oneself.
  • No loitering or panhandling on buses or at bus stops.
  • Harassment of other passengers is not acceptable.
  • Keep the aisles and exits clear.

Passengers must comply with driver at all times. Driver may refuse service to anyone who engages in prohibited activities and your privilege to ride may be suspended.

Lost and Found

Items that have been found will be available for pickup at the STAGE office, for 30 days, after which, unclaimed items will be donated to local charity or taken to the local police department.

STAGE Discount Pass and Application

STAGE offers discounts based on household income.  

The discount application and rules can be completed and printed online, picked up at the office or from any bus.  Your completed application should be returned along with the required documentation for income and residency to the Transportation Office.

Incomplete applications or applications missing the required proof of income and/or proof of residence will be returned.

On-Call Stops

Some stops are On-Call only, in order to have the bus stop, you must call the STAGE office and request a pickup.  On-Call requests must be done one hour prior to the pick-up time. See schedule for specific 'On-Call' stops.

Flag Stops

For the safety of our passengers, our drivers and others STAGE no longer offers flag stops.   Passengers must travel to the nearest designated bus stop to catch the bus.

Effective September 5, 2017 Saturday Service has been discontinued

All County offices including STAGE are closed for the following County Holidays:

STAGE - Fares


Tickets may be purchased on the bus or at the STAGE office.  There are no refunds on tickets and we are unable to replace damaged tickets.

When purchasing a ticket on the bus please have correct fare, drivers are not able to make change.  No bills over $20 and no pennies.

To receive your discounted fare, you must show your valid discount card, before you purchase the ticket as well as when you board the bus.

Children under 4 ride for free, with a paying adult passenger.

Base Fares

  • Basic Fare                $4.00
  • Next Town Fare       $2.50
  • In Town Fare           $1.75
  • Happy Camp Fare    $6.00

Discounted Fares * with a valid discount card

  • Basic Fare                 $2.75
  • In Town Fare             $1.25
  • Happy Camp             $4.50

There is no additional discount on Next Town Fares.

Commuter Passes

  • 10-ride commuter pass     $30.00
  • 10-ride Next Town pass    $25.00
  • Stored Value Card              $20.00 minimum, can only be purchased in the office

Any person, who believes she or he has been discriminated against, may file a signed, written complaint within one hundred eighty (180) days of the date of alleged discrimination.

STAGE - Route Deviation

Route Deviation is available to passengers who are unable to travel to a fixed route bus stop.  Passengers should contact the STAGE office for further information.
