Burn Day Information

Cal Fire declares end of Fire Season effective November 13, 2023

  • APCD Burn Permits are required for Agricultural and non-agricultural burning in County areas. Available at Siskiyou County APCD, 525 S. Foothill Drive Yreka CA 96097
  • Contact the municipalities listed under City Residential Burning Information below for their residential burning restrictions.

County Residential Burning 

  • The Air Pollution Control District (APCD) does not issue burn permits for residential burning.
  • Cal Fire does require permits for residential burning during the fire season. Local fire departments and municipalities may also require permits seasonally or year-round. Burn-barrel use is restricted in defined areas, contact the District for details or view the Burn Barrel Restriction Areas Map (47MB pdf) available below.
  • Residents, property managers, and homeowners may burn more than a 4-ft high by 4-ft square pile of allowable combustibles from the premises during burn hours on a burn day after first obtaining a burn permit from the Air Pollution Control District, the local municipal fire agency or, during fire season, online from Cal Fire at https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov/ .

City Residential Burning Information

Before you burn check with your local Fire Official or City Hall for residential burning restrictions. The following cities require residential burn permits year-round:  Dorris, Etna, Ft Jones, McCloud, Montague, Mt Shasta, Weed, Yreka.

Residential burning is prohibited in:  Lake Shastina and Tulelake.
