Flood Control and Water Conservation District

This district includes Box Canyon Dam, Lake Siskiyou and Lake Shastina.  The district is managed by Public Works, General Services.  The roles of the Flood Control District include:

  • Provide for quality recreational experiences
  • Tourism
  • Flood Control

Flood control commitment comes in the form of winter drawdown at Lake Siskiyou and is a service provided by the District to downstream residents.

Lake Siskiyou Special Event Application & Permit

If you wish to have a special event at Lake Siskiyou you must complete the application under Supporting Documents below.  Once you have completed the application and signed, return it to the address on the first page of the Application.  You may address any questions with Joy Hall, Program Manager at 530-842-8220.

Lake Shastina Ordinance Change - Prohibiting Overnight Camping

On August 1, 2017 the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors passed an amended ordinance, 17-10  that now prohibits all overnight camping at Lake Shastina.  The campground is now limited to Day Use ONLY.

Lake Siskiyou Delta Bridges

A seasonal installation of Delta Bridges allows hikers to complete the Lake Siskiyou Trail.  Notice and a photo of the bridge are posted here to announce the current state of the bridges.  They are removed in the fall and installed in the spring—exact timing depends on tributary flows.
