Exceptional Event Demonstration
Report on PM2.5 Exceedance During Wildfire Events in Siskiyou County

The Siskiyou County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) has released a comprehensive report addressing PM2.5 data from the summer of 2022 wildfire events. The report highlights an exceedance in PM2.5 levels caused by exceptional circumstances during wildfire activity.

This report is a key step in the District's efforts to document exceptional events under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Exceptional Event Rule. By excluding wildfire-related exceedances from annual averages, this data helps ensure Siskiyou County remains in attainment with California Air Resources Board (CARB) air quality standards.

Public engagement is vital in achieving our air quality goals. We encourage community members to review the report and provide comments or feedback during the designated comment period:
