Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council
Welfare and Institution Code 749.22 requires each county to establish a juvenile justice coordinating council (JJCC) that shall develop and implement a continuum of county-based responses to juvenile crime. The JJCC is responsible for developing the county’s Local Action Plan to serve Juvenile-Justice Involved Youth. The coordinating council shall, at a minimum, include the Chief Probation Officer, as chair, and one representative each from:
- The District Attorney’s Office
- The Sheriff’s Department
- The Department of Social Services
- A Community-Based Agency Drug and Alcohol Program
- The County Office of Education or School District
- The Public Defender’s Office
- The Board of Supervisors
- The Department of Mental Health
- The Police Department
- An at-large community representative
