Unlawful Detainer Assistant
Business and Professions Code §6400-§6415
Overview
Unlawful Detainer Assistant is an individual who for compensation renders assistance or advice in the prosecution or defense of an unlawful detainer claim or action, including any bankruptcy petition that may affect the unlawful detainer claim or action. Registration is required in each county where the services are performed.

Registration Process
- Complete and sign an Unlawful Detainer Assistant application
- Provide a valid government issued photo identification
- Photo for identification card – size 1” x 1 ½” (Not required for corporations or partnerships)
- Individual - purchase a $25,000 bond from a bonding company that covers the two-year registration period
- Corporation - bond amount is based on the total number of legal document assistants and unlawful detainer assistants employed by the partnership or corporation
- Registrants must appear in person.
Filing Fee
- $182 (cash, money order, or check) payable to the Siskiyou County Clerk
- A separate check for recording fee for Bond
- $10 for each additional ID card
