SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA, January 29, 2024 - We are aware of the various situations where animals have become stuck in the muddy areas of Iron Gate and Copco Reservoirs and are in distress. While we value the importance of rescuing these animals, we strongly advise against attempting to do so personally. The safety and well-being of our community members are of utmost importance to us. Going into the mud can pose serious risks to your safety and well-being.

If you encounter animals in distress, please report the situation immediately to the appropriate authorities. For animal rescue emergencies, please contact:

Your prompt reporting can help ensure the safe and timely rescue of animals without putting anyone's safety at risk. In addition, the Sheriff's Office will be conducting additional patrols in the area to ensure public safety and aid when appropriate.
