Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a community led program in partnership with their local law enforcement department to enhance neighborhood security, heighten the community’s power of observation and encourage neighbors to look out for each other. When neighbors get to know each other, they are more inclined to call their local law enforcement agency to report any suspicious activities they see, allowing law enforcement to respond immediately to deal with any potential crimes. Neighbors can act as the eyes and ears for understaffed police and sheriff’s departments, potentially helping reduce crime in the community. Neighborhood Watch groups will: enhance the community’s awareness of local crime problems; train citizens in what to look for and how to better secure their own property; encourage active participation in helping each other and reporting suspicious circumstances to the police/sheriff’s office.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is committed to helping communities develop and train active Neighborhood Watch Groups throughout Siskiyou County. For further information, please contact your local deputy or call the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office telephone number 530-842-8300.
